distant.

i broke into your house
last night.
i left you a note,
so you knew that
i had been there.
im far too shy
to talk to you.
i dont know why.
you seem to have that effect
on most of us.
what is it that makes you
sit on an ivory pedestal
so far above our heads?
what secret pain
makes you cold and distant?

---------------because i think we have that
---------------in common.

it wont snow where youre going.

hi guys. im jo, the new addition. thanks so much for inviting me. so...heres my first post.

preventing chaos
leads us to hell dos
the storm of time
defeats the lesser of two evils
victims of heaven are dead
it wont snow where youre going
miles from london
they find a book of lies
looking too closely at it
they start disproving destiny
and then the fires began
it wont snow where youre going
the book of revelations
is ten thousand pages long
also called the heartbreak gospel
words fail
as does recreational sobriety
it wont snow where youre going
echoes of yesterday leave me nothing
but the penultimate drink
with no time left
i am saving delusion
it is that which we cannot admit
it wont snow where youre going.

The Moral Looking Glass: Anatomy of a Reflection

Prologue:

I.
Samuel was
----born out of wedlock
the bastard child of rebellion
--and curiosity
-for many years the vagrant son
-----sailed across seemingly endless
---sweeping oceans of grass
clambered up snow capped mountains
---until he rested on a shore
--and stared at a horizon
-----that glared right back
---a provocative glance
------this boundary
-begged a kiss

II.
Samuel was
---a hot blooded young man
long gone were the days of his
-----solitary childhood
--and like the many verdant before him
----he oozed temerity
---as he sought the ever elusive
-------power of the sea
---destiny whispered it was his
--and eagerly he lay claim to
----anything that lay in the path
--of his compass

III.
Katerina was
----descendant of a line
--of vagabond vanquishers
who finally found home
-----on the sands of the Black Sea
---her sons were soon to stray
--and for many years they fought
-----only through the power of a cross
---did the animosity finally end
------through brotherhood an empire united
---and a smile graced the time worn face
-of the warrior mother Katerina

IV.
Katerina was
----slain one red stained day
---a terrible force rocked her domain
--and a ruthless lord Ivan laid claim
-----to the throne
---at the cost of lives ended and blood shed
opposition was lost and “peace” gained
------a new dynasty
---lusted for land
---------and power
-----and time spun on

Winds of Change

Katerina long since dead
----and the blood line of Ivan all but spent
---a harrowing battle cry resounded
--------fog and fire broke from the firmaments
----young and innocent boys watched and died
---the breath of youth’s death promised revolution
---the ravished country side retreated inward
-------a desperate attempt to stay alive
---from the ashes of Ivan rose the Union

Samuel’s pride still swelled
----full of confidence that he could succeed
-where the linage of Ivan had faltered
-------he launched himself into the merciless battle
----and brought monetary wealth and body counts
-------------back home
---blessed and scared,
Samuel returned a victor

Scars and Suspicion

While the Union toiled
----Samuel at home basked in the spoils
--of the conflict he had settled
the vast riches only eased the pain
---of the lives lost, perhaps in vain?
--Samuel began to question his motives
------many nights he stayed up late
---At what price should victory come?

the Union loomed ominously
----a machine fed by the misery of
---a despondent people
--------Samuel knew hopelessness bore contagion
---fear had made itself known
-----in the once undaunted man’s mind

Necessity’s Child

Fate twisted herself into knots
----and a greater evil rose in a land
--neighboring the Union
-----so great that in sharing an enemy
---the Union and Samuel joined as friends
------to quell the killer foe
---bitter and cruel,
-------Fate slowed Samuel’s aid
--to the Union’s desperate pleas for help
-----relief trickled in and the battle was won
---resentment of Samuel’s temporary abandonment
outweighed any gratefulness in the Union’s mind…
-------trust was shattered, a friendship was squandered

Sheer Terror in a Mirror

When the great foe fell
----Samuel’s eyes fell upon the Union
--the same might that
------brought security to Samuel
--could take it away
------Samuel had not entirely lost his pride
---he saw the Union growing in power
---------and decided this was a race
---that he must win
------the Union was evil, an enemy
---the new foe

The Union had been left to fend for itself
---Samuel had offered his hand
------as a friend, offering security
---he had taken it away
-----the Union refused to be fooled again
---they saw Samuel sprinting by
-------the dust from his heels they knew
---would asphyxiate, they joined the race
-------for their own survival they must win
---betrayers such as Samuel must be destroyed

--Motives reflecting
-----Samuel and the Union
---fought themselves
-------fighting each other
